The Kestrel Interface is the ideal companion to the Kestrel 4000 Pocket Weather Trackeror 4100 Pocket Air Flow Tracker. With the optional computer interface, data can be uploaded for long-term storage, in-depth analysis and detailed charting.

Simply connect the interface cable to the serial port on your PC, rest the Kestrel 4000 or 4100 on the cradle, and upload your stored data. The included software is easy to use and saves the data in a comma delimited text file for use in your choice of applications: text editor, spreadsheet or database.

The Serial Port is a good, easy to use and robust product. For the amount of data a K4000 can hold, it's performance is adequate. Getting it going on my new computer with an existing USB serial adapter was a challenge. It took both me and Kestral support a long while to try, but failed to get the Serial Port working with this particular USB adapter. We gave up and I opted for another USB adapter that works perfectly. A list of "tested OK" USB adapters would be a good idea to add to Kestral's support site. I would like to see a solar-powered, weather-proof serial to IEEE-802.11g adapter available, suspend the Kestral below in shelter and there you have it, a remote weather station!
