Our Review of the Kestrel Interface - USB Port
The Kestrel USB Interface transforms any Kestrel 4000-series meter into a weather station and data logger. Simply connect the interface into the proper USB port on your computer, rest the Kestrel 4000, 4100, 4200 or 4500 on the cradle, and upload the data. With the easy-to-use software you are able to view the data in a text editor, spreadsheet or database.

The Serial COM1-4 is limited on most computers, but its relatively easy to find a COM input to USB.

not a true USB interface

This is simply tacking on a keyspan adapter to a regular serial interface. If your computer doesn't have serial COM1 through COM4 available (most do not), then it will not work!
Comments from The Staff:
This is correct. The basic Kestrel software will only operate on COM 1-4. If all of these ports are already in use, it is usually possible to reassign some device to open up one of the required ports. Thanks for the review.
