This Unit is alot quicker to use on a incident then to use the old style sling method to gether much needed info during Fire fighting activity in the Wildland Setting, had my kestrel 3000 for five years and still love it and still in good shape from all the heat and water is get from Fire Fighing activity, It takes what ever you give it and keeps on giving back .
Good Product , Highly recommended , especially for Fire Dept. in WildLand Settings

Great product, great support!
Reviewer: Anonymous , Northport, MI

I did a lot of research before buying Kestrel and the Kestrel 3000. I looked at other brands â?¦ This unit was tops in my book for what I was looking for. The 3000 exceeds my expectations: its solid construction, combination of features, accuracy, ease of use, availability of maintenance parts and user maintainability topped my wish list when it came time to purchase. Customer service, when - dummy me! - I couldnâ??t figure something out from the instructions, was knowledgeable and responsive: they held my hand until I got it right. I wish every purveyor made and supported its product as well as Kestrel does!

The 3000 wind meter works good in wind below 30mph. I could not get a higher reading than that and I know it was stronger. Huricane Wilma was passing by and the winds were around 80mph.

Nice unit worked well until we tried using it in the wind tunnel and at 35 mph the impeller broke.

The screen should be recessed.
Reviewer: Locana de Souza , Tucson, Arizona

The functionality of the kestrel 3000 is great. It has several useful features that are straightforward to use. However, the huge drawback is that there is not enough space between the cover and the screen. If you have occasion, as I have, to use this instrument under windy conditions in areas of fine blowsand, once you use the instrument and slide it back into the cover, the face gets scratched. Unfortunately, this really detracts from the overall appeal of this product. The screen should be recessed to protect it from getting scratched.

My only negative is that the characters are hard to read until one learns the order in which they appear, dew point or wind max .

Thermographic Uses
Reviewer: Stephen West , Boston, MA

I've been using the Kestrel 3000 for 2 years now while doing Thermographic surveys of power stations inside and out. Knowing wind speed and humidity is extremely helpful for the analysis in the final report. I've foud it to be rugged and dependable.
